Julia Nyquist

Senior Coach in Butcher’s Lab

My name is Julia, and I’m from Finland. I been in Denmark since January 2024.

I started doing CrossFit in October 2011, so I’m in my 13th year.

I was living a very unhealthy and sedentary lifestyle. I was already tired of this way of living but didn't know how to change things or have any idea what to do. By chance my sister got to know someone who was already into CrossFit and because of that we started going as well and we are both still going strong!

I didn't do any kind of sports before getting into CrossFit. It was limited to physical education in school, which I must admit I tried to get out of more than once, especially in high school...

I grew up on a farm which included physical labour and being outside in nature a lot as a child. Then I did Thai Boxing parallel to CrossFit for some years.

After transforming my own lifestyle, I decided to dive into Physiotherapy and that journey led me to coaching. Becoming a personal trainer was the next step, especially when I found a private gym that shared my values on training. At the heart of it, I became a coach because I’m passionate about helping people live healthier lives and discover the positive impact of movement. Another reason I do this is to help people elevate their training to the next level. I have been a coach and personal trainer since 2019, so five years now and a part of Butcher’s Lab ever since I came to Denmark

Fun fact?

When I was 16, I spent over 24 hours in line for a Metallica concert outside the venue with my sister and best friend to secure front-row spots.
